History
US-Mattress.com began in 2001 as a joint venture between the entrepreneurs Joe Nashif, the founder of US-Appliance.com, and Rich Winkler and Jay Bale, of Mattress Plus, a retail mattress business. US-Mattress is the largest Sealy mattress retailer in Michigan and among the largest mattress retailers in the midwest. In 2008, the company was listed as one of the "Top 500" online retailers, according to Internet Retailer magazine[1], based on online gross revenue. In addition, US-Mattress also operates other furniture websites including FurnitureCrate.com and DaybedDeals.com.
Comfort Scale
US-Mattress is the creator and trademark owner (serial number: 78680551) of the "Comfort Scale"[2], which enables a consumer to determine the firmness of a mattress without the need to feel a mattress in person. This is done through the use of a descriptive 10 point rating scale with associated definitions (1 is hardest, 10 is softest, etc.)
