Biography
Catriona Campbell is a Director and Founder of Foviance who provide usability across the digital and cross channel services. Catriona holds degrees in Psychology from the University of Stirling combined with a third year at the Sorbonne and Human Computer Interaction (HCI)
Background and early Career
Catriona was voted one of the Top 50 most influential people in the Internet Industry by Internet Magazine (2002) and Top 100 individuals to be recognised for contribution to the development of the internet over the last 10 years by NopWorld & E-Consultancy(2004). In 2007, Netimperative recognised her achievements be nominating her for a lifetime achievement award.
Her role at Foviance includes owning partnerships with agencies, as well as consulting on strategic accounts. Catriona has worked at BP, Electric and Plc. Some of her career highlights:
• Vice Chair of the British Computer Society (BCS) HCI Group • The youngest ever member of the BCS Elite Group • Founding board member of the Usability Professionals Association, UK chapter. • Executive committee member of the European Usability Group • She is on the UPA International Conference committee 2007, 2008, 2009 • On the European UPA Conference Committee 2008 • One of two Usability Experts who assisted the UK Government’s E-Envoy’s office to produce the first government usability guidelines. • She has assisted the BBC produce their internal Usability & Accessibility Guidelines for children's interactive programming • On a variety of judging panels for new media awards e.g. the New Media Age effectiveness awards, and Netimperative awards. • Been a member of the UAWG (Usability and Accessibility Working Group, BWDMA) • Been on the Interacting with Computers Special Editorial board • Guest contributor for the IAB publications • Guest contributor for the Microsoft Design Magazine • She is regularly contacted by the BBC and the Financial Times and Sunday Times amongst many for independent comment on a broad range of behavioural psychology and usability issues, and has recently appeared on Radio 4’s Talk Shop • A Prince of Wales Trust Mentor assisting young people set up businesses, and she mentors HCI students still in education
Catriona splits her time between London and Scotland, where she lives with her husband and two sons.
