Below are a few tools I recommend for any sort of SEO reporting

Google Analytics

I'd recommend having a strong GA implementation in place prior to any reporting. You should have both macro and micro conversions set up. Think event interactions and goal completions.

Depending on the client and their needs I'd include general data points like sessions, time on site, % new users, conversion rates, etc.

Ahrefs or Search Console

Personally, I'm not a big fan of reporting on keyword rankings and movements. It's been my experience clients generally don't care.

They would prefer to know about traffic increase but mainly leads or revenue generated from organic traffic. However, I've had some savvy clients in the past ask for this. So, I'd recommend using Ahrefs or Search Console to gather that data.

If you're bootstrapped you can use the Google Sheets add on for Search Console and collect that data to visualize later on.

Google Data Studio

Finally, I highly recommend Google Data Studio as a tool to visualize data and create regular reports for your clients.

Sure there are a lot of other paid options but Google Data Studio is free and integrates with a ton of different data points. They have a bunch of free to use data connectors and some community connectors available as well.

For the most part, the reports you can create within their tool are more visually appealing than most of the paid options available.
